FlowTalk proves “AIMRO-Ready” in high volume performance testing
Utilisoft is delighted to announce that its market-leading energy data management software FlowTalk has achieved a critical benchmark and proved capability for managing the extreme high volumes of data which are expected to be generated by the wide-spread roll out of Smart Meters in the Australian National Electricity Market.
Utilisoft’s FlowTalk application manages an energy market participant complete set of business-to-market (B2M) and business-to-business (B2B) data which flows constantly between them and the external market operator NEMMCO’s information system known as MSATS.
Utilisoft achieved both “burst” and “steady state” volume processing capabilities which far outstrip the current volume demands of Australia’s largest Network and Retailer participants in a controlled test environment. Additionally the testing procedure proved Utilisoft’s methodology to scale the solution towards the upper-end of requirements being predicted following the introduction of Smart Meters.
Manually-read accumulation electricity meters are to be progressively replaced across Australia with remote-communications enabled interval or Smart Meters. This process starts in Victoria in 2008 with the State’s mandated Advanced Interval Meter Roll Out (AIMRO). Networks and Retailers face the challenge of reading and managing millions of new XML data flows every day and which their information systems are currently unlikely to be capable of managing.
Utilisoft carried out high volume testing of FlowTalk in conjunction with Microsoft and Hewlett Packard at HP’s dedicated test labs in Sydney, Australia.
Utilisoft Technical Director Nick Nikolitsis said: “Not only is it the market-leading Software for managing all the mission critical market data processes in Australia, now our customers can be confident that it will contribute to them being AIMRO-Ready.”
“Our testing with partners HP and Microsoft has proved transaction processing capability which exceeds the current needs of Australia’s largest Retailers and Networks doing business in the National Electricity Market. Additionally we have a proven methodology for scaling to the transaction volumes which such participants are telling Utilisoft that they will need to process following the widespread introduction of Smart Meters in Australia which roll out progressively from 2008 onwards.
“We will continue to test our software products for increased volume requirements as they evolve and work with our customers to meet this challenge.”
