The Gas Market Company (GMC), now part of the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is the operator of the NSW & ACT Gas Retail Market and it is managed by Logica Australia. The Market allows more than 1,000,000 gas consumers in NSW and the ACT to choose their gas supplier.

AEMO develops cost effective retail market arrangements, which are fair and equitable, to facilitate competition in the gas retail market. It serves the interests of energy industry participants, energy consumers, government, and other stakeholders by enabling a competitive market in a fair and cost effective manner. It also provides the central information system known as the GRMBS (Gas Retail Market Business System).
