In 1991 Mark joined the newly privatised power sector at National Grid in the UK where he progressed through the roles of analyst, consultant and account director to the central market, regulator and participants. With full market liberalisation in the UK in 1998, Mark worked with many businesses to enable their entry into the energy industry and the subsequent delivery of operational outsource services for their market activities.
Mark joined Logica in 2001, where he led gas market business development across Europe and later the UK energy trading practice. He consulted with a wide range of energy companies on power & gas market access, market evolution and transformation of energy trading capabilities including such as E.on, RWE, EdF, GdF, Gasunie, British Energy and Gazprom. Mark was a member of EASEE-Gas and developed solutions for secondary capacity gas trading that were developed in consultation with GTE and the European Commission. From 2004, Mark led Logica's energy business strategy and business development in the UK until joining Utilisoft in 2007.
At Utilisoft, Mark is focused on growing the company's value to the energy and utilities sector through the continual evolution of their solution suite and professional services to meet the future challenges of the industry. Amongst his responsibilities, Mark leads company strategy, market intelligence and sector engagement and is now driving initiatives in the areas of smart energy, cross area settlement, self-supply, trading intelligence and web service based interaction for energy markets.
