The Western Australian Electricity market is currently in the process of de-regulation following the break-up of monopoly electricity business Western Power in 2006. Westrern Power was broken into four parts, Generation, Urban Retail (Perth), Distribution and Country Retail (the rest of WA).

Utilisoft has flowed with interest the forming of a new contestable market in WA. Approximately 13,000 businesses in the Perth region are already able to choose their energy supplier. The domestic market of nearly 900,000 households will become fully contestable at the end of this decade.

Utilisoft has committed to providing a market data flows management software application which is 100% compliant for the WA market by 2008, when the market’s communications strategy and requirements are published.

The WA module will form a module of Utilisoft’s market-leading NEM application FlowTAlk and therefore will provide existing NEM retailers with a trusted and cost-effective capability for entering the WA market. Conversely, the platform will allow WA-based retailers with a simple methodology for entering the Eastern States’ NEM.
